"In the Light" represents the light that exists in a world of darkness. This light, once received, emanates outward. Some of the flowers appear to be in the dew-this signifies the life-giving force and purity of water. Other flowers seem to have a smoky affect-this reflects on the gift of fire through Mother Nature that came to early man. Also, the light that burns within cannot be extinguished from the world. Still other flowers have a light-filtering affect-which signifies that the Light can touch us all. "The Source" is a small compilation of sunrises and sunsets that I have experienced and represents the source of light that is used to create this technique. "Other" is a series of flowers that have yet to be named but I wanted to include. I hope to have them named in the future. "Familiar View" contains flowers in their familiar setting, without use of my lighting technique. After many years of just taking photos of the very small wildflowers, I finally decided to try my technique on larger, more familiar flowers. Thus-"Garden Variety." Here you will find an assortment of roses, crepe myrtle, iris and magnolia. Some are "In the Light" and some are "Familiar View". In all cases, photos are taken in the field under natural sunlight. Photos are not digitally altered. The flowers under this lighting technique give their own individual expression, which stands alone, requiring no enhancements.
